It has come to our attention recently that a number of pet medication suppliers in the U.S have imported products from overseas for sale in the U.S. In most cases the packaging has been modified to resemble the locally distributed version of the product available in the country in which these vendors have intended to sell. This practice is not legal. With obvious reasons it is in the best interest of any ethical retailer, online or otherwise to ensure that such counterfeit products are not passed on to the consumer.

6. In November 2003, USA customs rejected Sentinel and Interceptor from entering the USA. This was in response to pressure from the manufacturer in trying to protect their local market. As a result of these restrictions in trade, we are unable to supply Novartis products to the USA. There is currently no restriction in the UK or any other countries.

7. The only product that treats both ticks and fleas available for us to sell is Frontline Plus. This is a Topical treatment applied monthly and is available in a 3 and 6 month supply.
In Australia we have a nasty paralysis tick that requires fortnightly application of Frontline Plus. As far as we are aware the common occurrence of ticks and fleas in the U.S require only monthly application.

8. A preferred alternative to Heartgard is either Valuheart, Canimax or Dimmitrol.

     

Canimax is a complete Heart wormer and intestinal wormer. You need to be aware that the largest dose you can buy treats 20 kg (44 lbs).  So if your dog is in the 20-40 kg (44-88lbs) range you will need two 10-20kg tablets and if your dog is in the 15-30 kg range (33-66 lbs) you will need one 10-20 kg and one 5-10 kg tablet. Although you are giving two tablets here it is still cheaper as Canimax is a six weekly treatment and it treats all intestinal worms plus heartworms.
Dimmitrol Monthly Chews contains the same ingredients as Heartgard and is a cheaper alternative. It only comes I size 12-22 kg (26-48 lbs). Therefore small dogs will need ½ chew and larger dogs will need 1 & ½ or 2 chews.
